ESPN to Air More Than 150 NBA G League Games in 2026-27

ESPN will present more than 150 NBA G League games during the 2026-27 season

Date:

ESPN’s announced NBA G League schedule is smaller than in previous seasons. However, the network will maintain extensive regular-season coverage and showcase major events as the league expands its streaming distribution.

What We Know: ESPN will present more than 150 NBA G League games during the 2026-27 season. ESPN+, ESPNU and ESPNews will collectively air games starting November 10th. Nine games will run that day on ESPN+. Regular-season coverage will run through March with most games streaming on ESPN+. That’s fewer than the 270 games ESPN announced for 2024-25 and the 215 for 2025-26, though the totals aren’t directly comparable: the 2024-25 schedule included playoff and Finals coverage. This season’s announcement lists postseason coverage separately without a game total.

ESPN has long been one of several outlets carrying G League games. The league expanded its streaming reach through partnerships with Tubi in 2023, Roku in 2024 and Prime Video in 2025. Meanwhile, ESPN will retain coverage of major events. These include 16 Winter Showcase games in December and the 2027 playoffs and Finals.

What Remains Unclear: ESPN hasn’t provided a reason for the smaller number of G League games announced. While the network continues offering regular-season games and major events on its linear channels, it’s unclear whether the change reflects shifting programming priorities, the league’s expanding streaming partnerships or other factors. ESPN also hasn’t detailed its playoff schedule or indicated whether additional games could be added.

What It Means: The Network’s smaller announced schedule could benefit both sides as the G League’s distribution continues to evolve. For the league, additional streaming partnerships create opportunities to reach new audiences. Likewise, increasing exposure for developing players potentially generates more media revenue. For ESPN, the smaller commitment could signal a more selective approach to programming, one that maintains regular-season coverage while emphasizing major events on its linear networks.
