Baseball Hall of Famer and FOX Sports MLB analyst Derek Jeter is launching a new production company called Cap 2 Productions.
Jeter hopes to utilize the company to enhance his interest in sports television and video projects.
“It’s not just some random company that was started because we said, ‘Hey, we want to get into production now.’ This is an extension of what has been built over the last 10 years,” Jeter told The Hollywood Reporter.
He told the publication he views the new production company as an extension of his previous media enterprise, The Players Tribune, which he co-founded in 2014 after his playing days ended.
“When we started TPT, you have a vision of what it can become, and I think it’s grown to be bigger and better than a lot of people thought, myself included,” Jeter said. “I have a lot of confidence that 10 years from now, we’ll be saying the same thing about Cap 2.”
The company is already producing a documentary for ESPN and a World Series documentary for Apple. It is also currently creating content for The History Channel.
Derek Jeter joins other legendary athletes like Peyton Manning, Stephen Curry, Tom Brady, and Lebron James as those featuring production companies.
