MLB Network has announced MLB Tonight: Clubhouse Edition will return for its fifth season on Tuesday, May 20 headlined by 2016 World Series Champion and All-Star Dexter Fowler, and 20-year NBA veteran and Seattle Mariners fan Jamal Crawford. The all-new edition of the broadcast, hosted by MLB Network host Matt Vasgersian, will be available across multiple platforms, including MLB Network, MLB.TV, X, MLB.com and the MLB App.
As in past editions, the program will feature a dynamic blend of live baseball coverage and candid conversations with a lineup of celebrity guests from across sports and entertainment.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to work with Jamal, Matt and MLB Network for a night like this,” said Fowler. “Getting the chance to talk baseball with some of the biggest stars and find out how they fell in love with the game will be great. Jamal has a passion for baseball and we’re always going back-and-forth on different stuff happening in the game, so it’ll be fun for fans to see a little bit of that.”
This season’s first installment will include appearances by notable figures such as Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. in addition to other special guests. The broadcast will include live look-ins from up to 13 games in progress throughout the night as Fowler, Crawford and Vasgersian will offer their unscripted and unique commentary, reacting to the evening’s most thrilling moments.
Notably, Fowler and Crawford previously teamed up during the NBA season for three Courtside Crawsover alt-cast broadcasts. The duo is now set to take over the Clubhouse Edition format, bringing a fresh perspective to baseball coverage. In real-time, MLB and MLB Network social channels will share clips from the show, while also posting fan polls and questions that Fowler and Crawford will engage with during the telecast.
The May 20 program marks the first of two planned specials in partnership with Courtside Crawsover.
“These Clubhouse shows are the best when it’s just former stars getting a chance to open up, relax and talk baseball,” Vasgersian said. “Dex has always been an insightful guy to be around and getting a cross-sport perspective from somebody like Jamal, who was so impactful for such a long time in the NBA, will be really fun.”
Fowler has contributed to thre network’s special programming since his final MLB appearance in 2021. He was also part of a Clubhouse Edition broadcast earlier in 2024. Meanwhile, Crawford emphasized the unique appeal of multi-sport connections.
“I’ve always loved the crossover appeal of every sport,” Crawford said. “There’s something special about watching elite athletes compete—whether it’s on the field or on the court, that level of intensity gets me hyped. That’s the kind of energy Dex and I are excited to bring to the broadcasts—bridging worlds, celebrating greatness and connecting fans through the universal language of competition.”
A Seattle native, Crawford threw out the ceremonial first pitch at T-Mobile Park in 2021. Since retiring from the NBA in 2020, he has contributed as an on-air analyst for TNT and MSG Network. He is also set to become a lead game analyst for NBC and Peacock this October.
Originally launched in 2021 and led by 2025 Hall of Fame electee C.C. Sabathia, MLB Tonight: Clubhouse Edition was created to offer fans a more relaxed and relatable way to watch baseball, with the goal of continuing to grow interest in the sport.
