Triton Digital has released its May podcast rankings, and shows from NPR and Charlie Kirk continue to dot the top 10 overall shows in the medium.
Shows from NPR held the top two positions, as NPR News Now and Up First from NPR finished first and second, respectively, in the Top Podcasts By Weekly Average Downloads category. Meanwhile, Fresh Air from NPR moved up two positions to finish the month fifth.
The Shawn Ryan Show was the largest mover inside the top 10, as it gained three positions to finish seventh. The Charlie Kirk Show dropped two positions during the month, down to eighth place.
VINCE, the podcast helmed by Vince Coglianese, declined by three positions to finish just outside the top 10 in 11th. Positions 12 through 17 in the Triton Digital rankings were all occupied by news podcasts. The NPR Politics Podcast, Global News Podcast, The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, Consider This From NPR, The Bulwark Podcast, and Planet Money from NPR all earned top 20 performances.
In the Top Sales Networks By Weekly Average Downloads category, the top six positions remained unchanged. iHeart Audience Network finished in the top position. It was followed by NPR, Audacy Podcast Network, Audioboom, Cumulus Podcast Network, and Paramount.
Soundrise and BBC finished in the seventh and eighth positions, while Salem Podcast Network — which distributes The Charlie Kirk Show — fell two positions to finish ninth. American Public Media Group was 10th, while Gamut Podcast Network — launched earlier this year by Hubbard Broadcasting — made its first appearance on the chart in 11th position. It leapt over other radio companies’ podcasting divisions like Beasley Media Group and Urban One to finish inside the top 20.
