ABC News Earns Top Spot in Nightly News Ratings, While NBC News and CBS News See Upticks

ABC News has long been on top of the nightly newscast ratings, and that remained during the week of February 9th.

World News Tonight averaged 8.7 million viewers during the week, taking the top spot in the overall nightly newscast ratings. The ratings victory for the ABC News show marked the ninth consecutive week during an Olympics that the program earned the top spot.

NBC Nightly News remained in second place, seeing an average audience of 7.8 million viewers. During the week, the Tom Llamas-led program won the Adults 25-54 demographic, besting ABC News 1.2 million to 1.1 million.

Those figures represented the largest Olympic week total and key demo audiences for NBC News in eight years. It was also the largest weekly audience for the show in 80 weeks. The NBC News program was anchored by Llamas from Milan during the week.

CBS Evening News averaged 4.1 million viewers during the week. Through the first six weeks of the Tony Dokoupil era, the network has seen a 10% increase in total viewership and a 17% uptick in viewers from the Adults 25-54 demographic.

In the key demo, the CBS News show averaged 458,000 viewers for the week of February 9th.
