The Tennessee Titans pulled Jared Stillman’s media credential on Tuesday sparking debate across sports media. Westwood One Sports host Pat Boyle says the punishment fit the provocation.
What We Know: The Titans revoked Stillman’s credential following a viral interaction with quarterback Cam Ward last week. Stillman has been a vocal critic of Ward and the Titans organization for some time. While much of the debate in sport media has been solely focused on the Titans being focused on the wrong things, Westwood One Sports host Pat Boyle took an opposite route. Instead focusing on how Stillman dared the organization to do so the day prior on his own program. Speaking on BetMGM Tonight via Westwood One Sports, ultimately called the Titans’ move justified.

Pat Boyle believes the Tennessee Titans did the right thing in revoking Jared Stillman’s credential: “He has the viral interaction, and then raced to his show to then talk about it. He preemptively invited the Titans to revoke his media credential. Yeah, you look like a jackass here. This is your fault. You basically dared them to take away your media credential, and I think the Titans had every right to do this. I stand with Tennessee on this.”
Pat Boyle says being critical in the manner Jared Stillman has been justified the revoking of his credential: “Eventually you talk enough smack where it’s not journalistic integrity if you’re going after somebody over and over and over and over again. Saying that they’re terrible and that they’re a bust and that they’re awful. Then you have this interaction [with Cam Ward]. I think it’s completely fair what the Titans did.”
What Remains Unclear: Specifics on why the Titans chose to revoke Stillman’s credential now remain unknown. Stillman has not responded to Boyle’s comments.
What It Means: Boyle’s comments suggest Stillman had this decision coming. Indeed, repeated criticism, he argues, can shift from analysis into personal attack sometimes. Instead of laying blame or demanding transparency from the Titans, Boyle chose to put the blame on Stillman. Especially for essentially daring the organization to do so in the manner he did. Whether or not Stillman will gain access to Titans availabilities is unknown.
