Zeb Norris is back where his radio career began. Point Broadcasting has named him Program Director and morning host of Classic Rock 99.9 KTYD Santa Barbara.
What We Know Norris joined 99.9 KTYD in March, co-hosting mornings alongside Lin Aubuchon. After Aubuchon retired at the end of July, he took over the show. Before that, he spent two decades in Vermont, programming Classic Hits 101.7 WCVT Stowe/Burlington for six years and AAA network The Point WNCS Montpelier for fourteen. His résumé also includes Rockers KZAP Sacramento, KSJO San Jose, and KRQR San Francisco, plus AAAs WXLE Albany and KUMT Salt Lake City.
What They Said Norris called his journey back “the proverbial long, strange trip” and said he “couldn’t be happier to return home to KTYD.” Additionally, he noted that he has “kept an ear on the station” over the years. He also credited Aubuchon, saying she “left things in great shape, so it’s onward!” Finally, he thanked Point Broadcasting COO Brian Davis and CFO Lisa Felix “for this fantastic opportunity.”
What Remains Unclear Point Broadcasting has not said whether Norris will add a new morning co-host. Likewise, the company hasn’t outlined any programming changes under his leadership. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen how he’ll put his own stamp on the heritage brand.
What It Means For 99.9 KTYD, the move delivers continuity and deep local roots. Norris first joined the station in 1976 as its overnight host, so he knows its history firsthand. Moreover, his blend of Classic Rock and AAA experience fits the station well. Ultimately, it’s a full-circle homecoming, and radio could use more stories like it.
