West Virginia Public Radio Reporter Claims She Was Fired For Investigative Report

West Virginia Public Radio reporter Amelia Knisely claims she was fired after an investigative report about the abuse of disabled patients at facilities operated by the state.

She claimed she was fired by West Virginia Public Broadcasting Executive Director Butch Antolini after she continued to investigate the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. She was told to drop her reporting by Antolini, the former Communications Director for West Virginia Governor Jim Justice. According to The New York Post, Justice had previously tried to strip the annual $4 million in funding given to WVPB.

Knisley claims that WVPB News Director Eric Douglas told her she could no longer work on the story because the Department of Health and Human Resources had threatened to discredit the network. The state also asked for a complete retraction of her reporting, according to Knisley.

West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority chairman William H. File III rebuffs Knisley’s claims, stating that she remains on the station’s payroll. He added that Antolini “was not coerced or pressured by anyone”.

Michael Kay Threatens Job of DiPietro & Rothenberg Producer

The war of words between 98.7 ESPN New York shows DiPietro & Rothenberg and The Michael Kay Show has continued, now with Kay threatening to have one of the morning show producers fired for his comments.

On Friday’s show, DiPietro & Rothenberg commented that their “burgeoning” show would be too much for the cast of the Kay Show to handle. Producer Ray Santiago later questioned if The Kay Show was fearful that the morning show “was on the rise and that show is going the other way”, noting that “it feels personal now”.

Kay responded negatively to the assertation from Santiago during his own show Friday.

“Ray Santiago made a comment about ratings? Do you realize, Ray, that all I’d have to do is make one phone call and you’d be on the unemployment line? You have the nerve to say something like that about this show? One phone call, which I’m considering making, and you will be fired,” Kay said. “Do you realize that? Management that’s listening, I am never talking about that show again…I have no use. Let them do what they do, and we’ll do what we do. Remember Ray, I am really, really sitting on the fence right now about getting you canned, opening your mouth when you shouldn’t have.”

Cameron Maybin Won’t Return to YES Network

Former MLB journeyman outfielder Cameron Maybin won’t return to YES Network’s Yankees coverage in 2023.

“I definitely wanted to come back,” Maybin told Andrew Marchand of The New York Post. 

Maybin’s departure is the first of several shakeups to the network’s Yankee coverage. Marchand reports the cable outlet is hoping to shift Carlos Beltran to studio analyst rather than his current position of game analyst.

Paul O’Neill is reportedly the network’s first choice to move back into the broadcast booth. O’Neill has called games from his home in Ohio due to his COVID-19 vaccination status. YES Network put a vaccine mandate in place that required employees to be fully vaccinated by January 1st, 2022.

YES Network also maintains an interest in bringing Yankee legend Derek Jeter into the fold as a contributor. According to Marchand, Jeter has shown slightly more interest in joining the cable home of the Yankees, but would be more interested in a situation that would see him call a few games per season.

Diamond of ‘Diamond and Silk’ Dies

Ineitha Lynnette Hardaway, better know as Diamond from the show Diamond and Silk, has died.

“The World just lost a True Angel and Warrior Patriot for Freedom, Love, and Humanity! Diamond blazed a trail, founded on her passion and love for the entire race of humanity,” the show posted on its Facebook page.

Hardaway and her partner Herneith Rochelle Hardaway Richardson — AKA Silk — rose to prominence for their staunch support of former President Donald Trump and his Make America Great Again platform. They billed themselves as Trump’s “most loyal supporters”.

The pair produced original content for Fox News and its streaming service Fox Nation from 2018 through April of 2020. The duo then hosted a weekend show on Newmax called Diamond and Silk Crystal Clear.

No cause of death has been reported. She was 51 years old.

Outkick’s Tomi Lahren Reacts to Being Censored By White House

Outkick host Tomi Lahren is reacting to being censored by the White House for her position on the COVID vaccine. Lahren appeared on the “Clay & Buck” show Monday to discuss the revelations of censorship unearthed by a lawsuit filed by a coalition of state’s attorney general offices. 

“We know now because of the Twitter Files and Elon Musk, that things are getting shaken up over at Twitter and we’re getting a lot more transparency there and certainly a lot more information is flying loosely on Twitter now,” Lahren stated via a transcript published on the show’s website. 

Lahren said she wants to see the Republican-controlled house hold people accountable for censoring journalists and others. 

“We need primetime hearings where these executives are called to the carpet and we need to know why they were censoring material,” she said. “And in the case of Facebook and Instagram and YouTube, why do they continue to do that very thing.” 

“It never even crossed my mind to get the vaccine,” added Lahren. “I’ve always preferred the old things like diet and exercise, which I always think is funny because there are people that will get five vaccines and wear two masks, but they would never hit the elliptical a day in their life.” 

Fox Weather Unveils New Lineup Featuring Amy Freeze

Fox Weather unveiled its new lineup across free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) Monday. According to Streamable, the network’s new show “Weather Command” features real-time forecasting by Emmy award-winning meteorologist Amy Freeze. 

Fox Weather President Sharri Berg told the website that “Weather Command” is the next evolution in weather forecasting. 

“Every morning, Amy invites the audience into the Weather conversation, featuring a new ‘expert desk,’ leveraging the power of FOX reporting, and breaking down the news, forecasts, and aftermath with context,” said Berg. 

“It’s more than radar and crunching numbers — it’s a conversation that brings perspective to science,” Freeze said. “Everyday weather is a concern in our individual days for how we operate, but weather is also a liability in communities and our nation’s economy.” 

Fox Weather streaming service has made a concerted effort to bolster its roster of talent, including local reporters like Nicole Valdes, Steve Bender, and Max Gorden, who were hired last month.

Freeze, who worked at Chicago’s Fox Affiliate WFLD 32 from 2011-2017, was Chicago’s first-ever female chief meteorologist. 

“As we build on the momentum of audience growth in both ‘peacetime’ and severe weather events, the FOX Weather team and talent is being positioned for continued success,” added Berg.

The new FOX Weather daily schedule will be as follows:

  • 6 a.m.-9 a.m. ET: “FOX Weather First” anchored by Britta Merwin and Jason Frazer
  • 9 a.m.-12 noon ET: “Weather Command” anchored by Amy Freeze

WABC’s Ernie Anastos Reflects How Long News Career Shaped His Perspective

77 WABC host Ernie Anastos discussed the evolution of the news business and how it shaped his own views and philosophies during an appearance Monday on “Sid & Friends in the Morning.”  

The station announced that Anastos was joining the daily lineup to host an interview feature, airing twice daily during morning and afternoon drive. 

“Freedom of speech, I will defend that until the end of the world, but I think we have to be careful and be responsible about what we’re saying and what we’re doing,” said Anastos. 

Anastos spent 40 years anchoring newscasts in New York and nationally. The Emmy award-winner had fill-in stints at “Good Morning America” and “CBS’ Morning News.” 

“I’ve had such an interesting perspective of the news business,” said Anastos. “Having started as a teenager in the 1960’s. when I was a desk assistant at channel 2, I remember reading a book that talked about how an anchor was going to handle themselves behind the desk when they were on the air.” 

Anastos told Rosenberg that he has always tried to deliver news in a fair and balanced way. 

“Many times, when I’ve gone into a polling booth and people have seen me walk in and I’ve taken a long time, people will ask me why I took so long,” Anastos said. “I told them that I have covered so many of these people that I had to think about where I wanted to go.” 

WABC described “Positively Ernie with Ernie Anastos” as a dynamic interview feature with helpful ideas and solutions to some of today’s relevant issues and fresh insight from expert guests and Anastos’s experienced news background.

It has been a while since we last printed the numbers, and that’s given us plenty of time to rethink how exactly to do this.

Nashville Predators Radio Voice Pete Weber Sidelined With Brain Disorder

Nashville Predators radio voice Pete Weber has revealed he has been diagnosed with a brain disorder that has limited his broadcasting availability.

In November, Weber was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a disorder that occurs when too much cerebrospinal fluid is circulated around the brain. It caused Weber to fall on the team plane in October as well as another fall before a game later that month. The second fall landed Weber in the hospital.

Weber is undergoing a procedure that will hopefully rectify the situation.

In the interim, Max Herz — who joined the network broadcast team this season — will handle play-by-play duties, with the Predators Radio Network continuing to include Weber in all pregame broadcasts.

“That’s been tremendously uplifting for me,” Weber told the club’s website. “To be able to hear Max do the job that he’s doing and to see the friendship that comes pouring through from everybody else – that is more than I have a right to ask for.”

Weber has been the only radio voice in the franchise’s history, which played its first game in 1998.

Predators President and CEO Sean Henry was appreciative that Weber would share his story.

“We would never talk about why he wasn’t on the road, of course, unless it was something that he and [his wife] Claudia were willing to share,” Henry said. “And I’m glad that they were, because there are tens and hundreds of thousands of people that just love the guy… And you only open up that way to people that you care about and that care about you.”

Paul Finebaum: ‘You’re Day-to-Day At ESPN’

The College Football Playoff National Championship Game is tonight, which puts ESPN host and analyst Paul Finebaum in high demand.

Finebaum joined DiPietro & Rothenberg Monday to discuss the tilt, which eventually devolved into the 98.7 ESPN New York hosts joking about the college football-centric host.

“Paul, you should hear what he says when you’re not with us. He makes fun of you all the time,” Rothenberg said of Rick DiPietro. “I think you’re the greatest. He makes fun of you, Paul.”

“I don’t mind. That’s ok. We had a good run there for a number of years, then you guys dropped me like a hot potato about two years ago when you went to mornings,” Finebaum said. “I had to scrape to make a try to make a living with some of these other ESPN hosts. If you guys wanna take shots at me, take shots at me.”

“It’s not ‘you guys’, it’s Rick,” Rothenberg joked. “I adore you. I’d have you as another co-host if that was allowable.”

“That would be fun. I’m available. You’re day-to-day at ESPN, as you guys know,” Finebaum joked.

Finebaum’s job is likely safe with the worldwide leader. He signed a contract in 2021 that will run through 2024.
