Mike Gallagher: ‘Joyless Reid’ Perfect Nickname For MSNBC Anchor

0

MSNBC anchor Joy Reid is a constant target for conservative media members and her recent comments on Senate candidate Herschel Walker (R-GA) caught the ire of conservative radio host Mike Gallagher.

Reid discussed with MSNBC contributor LaTosha Brown how black voters, especially black men, felt somewhat disrespected by the way Walker had been “paraded” by other Congressional Republicans like Lindsey Graham . Gallagher took exception to Reid’s characterization.

“Miserable Joy Reid. (Sean) Hannity calls her ‘Relentlessly Joyless Reid’. It’s a perfect nickname,” Gallagher said. “These people have no joy. You think Joy Behar has any joy in her life? Joy Reid? They’re miserable people. Leftists are so angry and so miserable so much of the time. This is what I mean about the racism — the bigotry — that has been thrown at Herschel Walker.”

Scott Hastings Details How Inside The NBA Video Came Together

0

Inside The NBA analyst Charles Barkley and Denver Nuggets analyst Scott Hastings have an interesting relationship. During a game in 1990, Hastings took a swing at Barkley during a mele between the Detroit Pistons and Philadelphia 76ers. Earlier this year, Hastings admitted he “sucker punched” Barkley during the altercation, with the two jokingly setting a date of May 19, 2023 for a boxing match.

During a recent Nuggets visit to Atlanta, Hastings stopped by the Inside The NBA studios to film a segment to provoke Barkley.

During Polumbus, Hastings, and Dover on Altitude Sports Radio Wednesday, Hastings detailed how the segment came to be.

“I said ‘We should do something and show up at the studios’ because of the Charles and I thing,” Hastings said. “We get there and one guy lets us in and waits for us at the loading dock. They got three people, two camera guys, a sound guy, and a producer. And she’s got the whole thing storyboarded out. I added some of my own flairs to it. There’s probably another 10 minutes of footage — maybe five to seven minutes. We got to the hotel at about 5:15 PM and asked if we could be there by 6:00 PM.”

Hastings said the Inside The NBA studios are located directly beside where the Nuggets were slated to practice, so he could both attend practice and go to the studio, which he called “cool”.

“You could play a two-on-two game. It’s that big. It’s probably not ‘NBA three’ wide, but we’ve all played on narrower courts. Honest to gosh, you’d have enough room — if you put a hoop at the big screen where they run to — you could play a game. It’s like an old catholic school court with the carpet up to the side.”

Saga Communications Rebuffs Unsolicited Takeover Offer

0

Saga Communications has announced it has rejected an unsolicited takeover offer.

The company’s board of directors says it “received and ultimately rejected a confidential, unsolicited, and non-binding conditional indication of interest to acquire the company under two potential transaction structures.

While not naming who offered to purchase the company, a report from Inside Radio claims it was Connoisseur Media CEO Jeff Warshaw. Warshaw unsuccessfully attempted to purchase Cumulus Media twice earlier this year.

The first offer, according to Saga, was a “cash buyout in the range of $30-$33 per share for all outstanding shares of Saga common stock”. The second offer was a merger with Connoisseur Media that would have paid Saga shareholders $12.47 per share to own 83.1% of the new company.

The Saga board of directors says it “did not believe this indication of interest was acceptable given the board’s view of the fundamental value of the company and its assets, the assumptions and significant financial contingencies underlying the offer, the longstanding mission of the company to develop and operate broadcast properties, and the board’s confidence that the company can ultimately create more value for shareholders in comparison to the highly conditional offer.

In conjunction with the company’s consultants and legal and financial advisors, the board will continue to formally review and evaluate all opportunities to enhance shareholder value, including through the new variable dividend policy as well as future acquisitions of additional broadcast properties.”

PAC-12 Commissioner: Deion Sanders Adds Value In TV Rights Negotiations

0

Even if you are not a fan of Coach Prime, his influence is hard to deny. Since accepting the head coaching job at Colorado, Deion Sanders has made the Buffaloes a hot topic in the sports media. That almost never happens.

Will that enthusiasm and curiosity translate into dollars and cents? George Kliavkoff thinks so.

The PAC-12’s Commissioner told The Athletic that he has seen Colorado already reap the benefits for itself. When the team opens the 2023 season with College Football Playoff participant TCU, he expects the conference and it media partners to see the value of Deion Sanders too.

“I can’t imagine what the ratings are going to be for that game,” he told Andy Staples.

Fans of the PAC-12 and media that cover the conference have been wary of the Big 12 raiding the West Coast for a number of the remaining top brands. The Big 12 has been seen has having a stronger position to emerge as the third mega-conference after solidifying deals with FOX and ESPN last month.

Kliavkoff also said that Sanders is a factor in the conference not having a new television deal lined up yet.

“We knew some other information was coming, including the announcement of Coach Prime, and why would we do a media deal before that?” the commissioner said adding that Deion Sanders “absolutely adds value” for the conference and its media partners.

Keith Olbermann: Jesse Watters ‘Projecting’ While Discussing Young Women

0

Podcaster Keith Olbermann has what could be described as a hate-hate relationship with Fox News and its personalities. That feeling extends towards host Jesse Watters.

During his Countdown with Keith Olbermann podcast Thursday, the former cable news anchor said he was offput by recent comments made by Watters in regards to the activities young women participate in.

“For the amount of times that these clowns talk about grooming and pedophilia, the things they say suggest this is all projection,” Olbermann said. “Talking about the merits of smoking marijuana, Jesse Watters said ‘Girls don’t dig it’.

“This is when Judge Jeanine Pirro asked why he thought ‘Girls don’t dig it’. Watters replied girls don’t like the scene. Pirro — who for once was not the dumbest in the studio — asked ‘What about alcohol?’. Watters replied ‘Girls like the alcohol scene’.”

Olbermann concluded by audibly shuddering at the sentence from Watters.

Evan Roberts: MLB Network Dropped The Ball During Aaron Judge News

0

After a whirlwind 24 hours, Aaron Judge signed a contract to remain with the New York Yankees earlier this week. The news happened early in the morning, and WFAN afternoon co-host Evan Roberts said that was no excuse for how poor the coverage was from MLB Network.

“They didn’t go live with it,” co-host Craig Carton said. “He reported it on social media, and they didn’t put him on TV for more than an hour after he had broken the story.”

When told that MLB Network simply put a scroll along the bottom of the screen alerting viewers to the news, Roberts was flabbergasted.

“Are you kidding me?,” Roberts asked. “It’s bad enough that SNY bad-mouthed Jacob DeGrom at the end and then decided to play a…tribute video right before our show. I don’t like the badmouthing of Jake, but at least they gave you live coverage. SNY gave you something. You’re telling me MLB Network didn’t give you any coverage?”

When Chris McMonigle mentioned the news dropped at 5:15 AM PT, Roberts didn’t care.

“Wake someone up,” he countered. “You’re not a real network. If you are — and you can tell your friends at MLB Network — if you wanna be a real network — and see now I gotta throw bouquets at SNY. As much as I didn’t like their coverage, they gave you breaking news coverage. Great job, SNY.”

McMonigle countered by telling Roberts that MLB Network hit the air at 9:30 AM ET, which is 6:30 AM PT, when they were previously slated to start coverage at 11:00 AM ET. When he then compared the difference in circumstances to that of the DeGrom news happening at 7:00 PM ET, Roberts shouted “it doesn’t matter!”, saying MLB Network should have been on top of the Judge news.

“What were they playing? Major League? A League of Their Own? B.S. network. Not a real network. Tell your friends,” continued Roberts. “They are not a real network if they can’t get breaking news when the biggest free agent signs a contract.”

Carton said the network put a scroll on the screen with the news of Judge’s signing, which Roberts concluded was not enough.

“Tell MLB Network to call our friends at SNY and they’ll give ’em a lesson on how you just break into whatever coverage you have, and you give live coverage. Even if the coverage is bad, at least they’re giving it to you.”

New York Times Staff Walks Out With No Labor Deal In Place

0

1,100 New York Times employees walked out Thursday during a protest over labor negotiations between The New York Times Guild and the venerable publication.

The Guild’s social media outlets claimed the paper “walked away from the table with five hours to go” during the most recent negotiations.

Joe Kahn, Executive Editor of The Times, shared that the paper is working towards a resolution.

“Strikes typically happen when talks deadlock. That is not where we are today,” he said. “While the company and the NewsGuild remain apart on a number of issues, we continue to trade proposals and make progress toward an agreement.”

The Guild has asked for a minimum salary of $65,000 for its employees during the nearly 20-month negotiation. Several Times journalists tweet their support for the walkout, with one calling it “an investment in the future” of the paper.

Times reporters have asked readers not to cross “the digital picket line” and support the strike.

Tony Rizzo Tired of Everyone Thinking ‘The Really Big Show’ Is ‘The Aaron Goldhammer Show’

0

The Really Big Show on ESPN Cleveland is a staple in the market, with the pairing of Tony Rizzo and Aaron Goldhammer winning the top spot in BSM’s Top 20 in 2021 as the best mid-market sports radio midday show. Rizzo, however, was not happy with a recent comment from Charles Barkley about the show.

During Inside The NBA earlier this week, Barkley said “My boy Aaron Goldhammer had me on his show on ESPN Cleveland”, and that did not sit well with the veteran host.

“I’m done at the end of this year on the Really Big Show. All over,” Rizzo joked. “I worked my whole life at doing this and everyone thinks it’s The Aaron Goldhammer Show. I’m done, I’m really done. I’m serious, I am done. Good luck with your new show. I hope you can sell jewelry and windows, I hope you can do it. I’ll be rooting for you.”

“Thanks. Sounds like you’ll be rooting for me,” Goldhammer replied sarcastically.

“I have other things that I’ll be doing, but I am done,” continued Rizzo. “I ain’t worked 35 years for this guy to hijack every interview I’ve done. Sick of it.”

“My first show I’m gonna come on and say ‘You know, I was talking to my boy, Tony Rizzo, he used to guest host the show.”

“Well, Chuck, you and Aaron Goldhammer are gonna have a good old time. I am done,” Rizzo concluded.
