Damon Amendolara Mocks Shaun Morash For Viral Video

A video posted by The DA Show producer Shaun Morash went viral Sunday night after Morash celebrated a New York Giants victory, which lead mocking from Damon Amendolara.

Many commented on the original video of Morash’s reaction saying it was staged or faked, while he argues he doesn’t know how to operate a Ring doorbell camera.

In the meantime, Damon Amendolara, host of The DA Show on CBS Sports Radio, pointed out Morash sounded like a pirate, and he teamed with update anchor Andrew Bogusch to mock Morash.

“The open seas, matey, we’ve finally won an opener,” Amendolara said in his best pirate voice.

“Oh ye Titans, we here to plunder,” Bogusch said. “The shores of Nashville be upon us.”

“Mine eyes have seen the plunder!,” Amendolara continued. “Upon the shores of Tennessee we come to pillage. To plunder! To take all of your women! Your treasures! Arrgh, we won an opener!”

While the host and update anchor shared laughs, Morash was also chucking at various points.

“Aye, one-eyed-Vrabel, we’re coming for your treasure,” DA laughed. “Mine eyes have seen their opener!”

The jokes at Morash’s expense come days after WFAN hosts Boomer & Gio made fun of The DA Show producer for his claims that he could beat Boomer Esiason in “several sports“.

VSiN Expands Footprint to Providence, Honolulu, Kansas City

VSiN has announced affiliation agreements with several stations around the nation as the Las Vegas-based sports betting content creator continues to expand.

VSiN has a new partnership with News Radio 920 WHJJ in Providence, Rhode Island. Programming from VSiN will be heard on the stations each weekday evening from 7:00 PM-10:00 PM ET. Brent Musburger’s Action Updates will also air twice a day on the station, in addition to sister stations 94 HJY and B-101.

The Hawaii Sports Radio Network in Honolulu has added VSin’s Final Countdown with Storym Buonantony and Matt Brown. That show will air at 11:00 AM Hawaiian.

Finally, due to the recent launch of sports betting in the state of Kansas, 101 The Fox and KCMO have partnered with VSiN to provide news and analysis short-form features, as well as VSiN analysts to make appearances on the Fox Football Gameday Show to discuss betting lines for the Chiefs, the AFC West, and other NFL games.

Michael Strahan: ‘Best Damn Sports Show Period’ Made Me Want Media Career

Michael Strahan wasn’t always thinking about being in the media after his Hall-of-Fame playing career was over. However, there was one show that helped Strahan realize that it could actually be a reality for him.

On the latest episode of The Pivot Podcast with Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder, and Fred Taylor, Strahan said he started doing guest hosting roles on shows for fun, but then he went on The Best Damn Sports Show Period.

“I literally would just do stuff because it was fun. Next thing you know, I did a Super Bowl for ABC one time on the main desk. I started doing Best Damn Sports Show Period out of fun, not thinking about a second career. But, then I started to realize this actually could be happening and it really happened when I was doing The Best Damn Sports Show Period.”

One of the things that Strahan thinks more people need to understand about broadcasting is that one particular person doesn’t make-or-break the show and sharing on a broadcast was something he learned while on The Best Damn Sports Show Period.

“That was like a training ground to me for live TV and for hosting and for sharing. It’s important to share. That’s what I think a lot of people don’t understand. They think it’s about me, I’m the star. Everyone can be a star. The show’s winning, we all winning…There’s so many people in the ecosystem of making you successful that If you think it’s about you, you’re a damn fool. For me, I truly have learned that it’s about teamwork. It’s about walking into the room and letting people know how important they are about everything.”

Strahan said he had a different mentality about the media while he was a player because he realized in order for the media to get their story, they needed him more than he needed them.

“I realized that they needed me to do their job. I hate to say it that way, but as an athlete, I needed my mentality to be you need me, I don’t need you, and you are telling me how to do my job. I used to say to them “the last time you put on a uniform was when your mom took you trick-or-treating”…It’s easy to write about something you’ve never done, but when you’ve done it, it gives you a greater appreciation about what it takes to get it done.”

Sports Media Reacts To Cris Collinsworth’s Voice On Sunday Night Football

If you watched the first Sunday Night Football game of the 2022 season, the lasting impression may be the number of injuries, including Dak Prescott, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin. More likely though, it was Cris Collinsworth’s voice that you remember.

Collinsworth had either lost his voice before the game or was in the process of losing it during the game. Whichever is the case, the sports media noticed.

There were two common reactions. A few expressed admiration or concern, noting that Cris Collinsworth’s voice may be hard to ignore, but the fight he was putting up should not be ignored.

The more common reaction though was jokes.

For the record, Mike Tirico explained during the game that while his voice was strained, Collinsworth was not ill. He joked that “my man is playing hurt.”

With plenty of time to sit in silence until September 18, if that is what he wants, Cris Collinsworth’s voice should be back in game shape for Week 2’s Sunday Night Football contest in Buffalo.

Ken Carman: Field Goal Posts Mic’d Up But No Mason Rudolph Audio Of Myles Garrett Incident?

Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell missed a potential game-winning field goal in overtime during Sundays game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and the call from CBS announcer Ian Eagle has been widely applauded. While replaying Eagle’s call, 92.3 The Fan morning host Ken Carman noticed something else.

The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima pointed out how prevalent the sound of the ball hitting the upright was.

“It’s like a bomb going off,” said Carman. “Listen to that doink.”

“Do we have a Richter Scale read out?”, Lima added.

“Oh, but the NFL and Fox don’t have any audio of Mason Rudolph. Ok. Alright. We have a doink off a field goal post that sounds like a nuclear bomb went off in Cincinnati, Ohio but we don’t got what Mason Rudolph said,” Carman continued. “No. We didn’t mic up the quarterback. ‘How much do you guys spend on your contracts? We spend about a billion dollars on our TV contracts. Oh, you didn’t mic him up? No, we’re trying to cut costs here’. Just checking.”

Carman was alluding to the 2019 incident between Mason Rudolph and Myles Garrett. Garrett has alleged Rudolph used a racial slur after a perceived late hit, which led the Browns defensive end to removing Rudolph’s helmet and hitting him with it during an on-field scuffle. An NFL investigation after the incident reportedly revealed no evidence of a racial slur being used, but audio from the incident has never been released. Garrett was suspended for a total of six games, the second longest suspension for an on-field action in NFL history.

Rich Zeoli: CNN Needs ‘Massive Storms, Planes Missing’ to Return to Prominence

While reading a report from Politico’s West Wing Playbook, 1210 WPHT morning host Rich Zeoli mocked CNN’s efforts to return to prominence, saying the “old school” CNN approach was the only way to capture their former audience.

According to the West Wing Playbook, the White House is at odds with CNN over their shift away from showcasing opinions that often skewed to the left and their focus on returning to their news reporting roots. The White House reportedly is not happy with the network’s coverage of President Biden’s “Fight For the Soul of the Nation” speech on September 1st, and also was not happy with the dismissal of Brian Stelter and John Harwood.

After pointing out a noticeable shift, including CNN contributor Van Jones continuing to criticize President Biden by calling him “grandpa”, Zeoli said “this is all Chris Licht. This is all him and his new change.”

“They all know that when their contract is up, they might be done if things don’t improve,” Dawn Stensland, The Rich Zeoli Show news anchor, said of CNN talent.

“Listen, they’re trying to transform CNN into a news network that Americans can trust, they say,” Zeoli joked. “You know what’s gonna be required for that to happen? They need another plane to go missing. They need massive storms. Planes missing. Old school CNN. Wolf Blitzer’s beard.”

Boomer Esiason: CBS ‘A Little Too Biased’ Towards Pittsburgh Steelers

Boomer Esiason and former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher had a disagreement during the season opening edition of The NFL Today, and Esiason’s Boomer & Gio co-host Gregg Giannotti couldn’t help but bring the subject up during Monday morning’s show on WFAN.

“You and coach Cowher got legitimately into it on The NFL Today about the Steelers and the Bengals,” Gregg Giannotti, who has admitted to texting Boomer during the CBS pregame show, said. “There was some real tension there.”

“I got mad there because I thought there was a real bias towards the Steelers when talking about Mitch Trubisky. Timeout. The Bengals went to the Super Bowl last year!”, Esiason, a former Bengals quarterback, said. “What are we doing here? I understand Pittsburgh’s a popular team and a great franchise and has a great history and we love their coach but I thought we at CBS were a little too biased.”

Giannotti then noted when the cast of The NFL Today made their Super Bowl selections, Esiason got a shot in on Cowher.

“When Cowher picked who he picked, you said ‘I’m surprised you didn’t pick the Steelers’,” before Giannotti mocked Cowher by huffing and puffing.

“Sitting there watching these games, man, and that Pittsburgh game, he and I were yelling at each other,” Esiason said of Cowher.

He added the Bengals should have challenged a call that would have given them a touchdown instead of being place at the one yard line, was the source of his disagreement mid-game with the former Steelers coach.

The Fan Morning Show Laments CBS Missing Crucial Field Goal

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals played a wild season opening game Sunday afternoon, which saw the kickers for both squads become focal points during the game, and also the broadcast. Unfortunately for CBS, however, they missed one of the bigger plays in the game as Chris Boswell made a field goal to give Pittsburgh a 20-14 lead. The Fan Morning Show on 93.7 The Fan in the Steel City lamented the moment.

“I guess it’s the first game for everyone,” Colin Dunlap said. “It’s a consequential moment. It’s gigantic. I’m waiting for it to happen. I believe it was the one to make it 20-14 to make the Steelers go up, but I wouldn’t know because on my television they totally missed Chris Boswell kicking a field goal. All you see is it landing on the ground beyond the uprights. I love CBS, but how do you miss a field goal?”

“The only reason I knew it was good was because the players put a fist up like ‘Yes!’, and I thought it must be good because I can’t see the dang thing,” co-host Dorin Dickerson added.

“It’s like they were trying to use the camera above the field on wires and they lost the shot for a second so their fallback was cut to the sidelines,” Chris Mack said.

Kaylee Hartung Has Studied The Greats

Kaylee Hartung was enjoying her job as a sideline reporter for ESPN, but five years ago, with a desire to grow as a reporter, she left to join CNN as a news reporter and two years later moved on to an opportunity with ABC News. 

She was no longer reporting on what she was seeing and hearing on the sidelines or talking with players and coaches after big wins. It’s not that sports isn’t real life, but Hartung was now covering events going on in the world that were truly all about life and death.

“I just spent five years in a lot of scenarios showing up on the worst days of people’s lives and that’s the job in news so often,” said Hartung. “I was in Parkland, Florida in the hours after that mass shooting. I’ve been at more natural disasters than I can count from hurricanes to wildfires where people have lost everything, not just their homes but loved ones as well.”

“It’s a job I didn’t take lightly and a job that I have so much respect for.  But now, I’m just so thrilled to get back to celebrating the best days in people’s lives.” 

Hartung is back in the sports world as the sideline reporter for Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of Thursday Night Football which kicks off this Thursday when the Chiefs host the Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium (8:15 PM Eastern).  Kaylee is part of a crew that includes legendary NFL play-by-play voice Al Michaels and analyst Kirk Herbstreit who is ESPN’s top college football analyst.  

She’s been on football sidelines many times before, but now Hartung is ecstatic to be part of an NFL national broadcast team.

“It hasn’t sunk in,” said Hartung.  “I think when the ball gets kicked off at Arrowhead (Stadium), it will all become very real. When you talk about the people involved and the opportunity that this is, I just feel so lucky to be part of the team.”

Amazon and the NFL reached agreement on an 11-year, $11 billion deal for the first ever all-digital package in league history. This season, Amazon will air 15 games from week two until week 16. At the end of the day, they are going to be football telecasts, but with a streaming deal comes new opportunities to keep the viewers interested and engaged.

Kind of like an NFL telecast 2.0 with a lot of the old mixed with a little bit of new including being able to keep an eye on other aspects of the game including fantasy football.

“It’s an incredibly exciting thing to be a part of…to help build something new,” said Hartung.  “Everyone involved with this feels that way. That excitement is very real from Al and Kirk to everyone on the crew. We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel when it comes to broadcasting a football game. What I think we’re going to do on the whole is change the expectations of NFL fans for the entire viewing experience.”

The 36-year-old Hartung was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and earned a degree in journalism and politics from Washington and Lee University in 2007. She began her broadcasting career with CBS News as an assistant to legendary newsman Bob Schieffer and had her first taste of reporting from the sidelines in 2010 for CBS College Sports.

“It’s one of those jobs where until you do it, somebody has to give you a chance to let you do it,” said Hartung. “Until you do it, you don’t know how good you’re going to be at it and you don’t know how to work out the kinks.”

It was prior to that first sideline opportunity when producer Steve Scheer gave Kaylee some valuable advice and that was to study then NBC Sunday Night Football sideline reporter Michelle Tafoya as much as possible.

And that’s what she has done.

Once Kaylee secured the TNF job with Prime Video, she asked producer Fred Gaudelli for as much tape of Tafoya as possible. 

“I’ve watched her Emmy reel submissions from her last five seasons,” said Hartung. “I’ve watched her entire season compilation of every report she did from the past couple of seasons. That’s how highly I think of her.” 

Another veteran sideline reporter that Hartung has been inspired by is Melissa Stark who has replaced Tafoya this season on Sunday Night Football. Stark was the sideline reporter for ABC’s Monday Night Football for three seasons but left in 2003 to join NBC News and Sports.  After some time at NFL Network, she has returned to NBC and is once again on the sidelines for NFL games.

And now Hartung is set to work the same people that Stark has worked with.

“I’m so glad she’s back,” said Hartung. “She was the first woman who made me think that I wanted to do and that was when I was in high school. It wasn’t until this year that I met her and we were texting before and after the (49ers/Texans pre-season) game. I think the world of her and now to get to work with guys on her original crew is not lost on me.”

The objectives, skillsets, and techniques can vary from sideline reporter to sideline reporter and that always leads to a burning question…what is the role of the sideline reporter?

As far as Hartung is concerned, it’s all about catering to the viewer and giving them the best possible information.

“The challenge that I try to give myself with every game is that no matter how hard I prepare, I will never know as much about these teams as their most tried and true fans,” said Hartung.  “My task on the sidelines is to ensure that from my vantage point, that I can tell them something they didn’t know or something that interests them…to make sure that I’m enhancing that viewing experience.”  

Kaylee Hartung is no stranger to the big moment. After five years of covering some of the biggest news stories for CNN and ABC, she’s back where she wants to be on the sidelines for football games, but this time it’s the NFL.

For many, it could be an “oh wow” moment, but for Hartung it will be soaking in a marquee moment for her and something she has been building towards for a long time.

“I’m worried that my head is going to explode at Arrowhead Stadium before the ball even gets kicked off,” said Hartung. “I’m sure there will be a lot of emotions that come along with that.  I learned how to be on TV in college football stadiums across the country.  I think I’m better at my job and conveying the motion when there are 60,000 screaming lunatics around me.”

And they’ll certainly be screaming in Kansas City on Thursday night.

CNN continues to shift their focus back to a strictly news gathering and reporting organization, which continues to catch the attention of liberal podcaster Keith Olbermann, with host Jake Tapper his latest target.

During his Countdown with Keith Olbermann podcast Monday, the former cable news host called out Tapper for take on how President Biden should handle former President Donald Trump’s participation in the United States’ representation at Queen Elizabeth II’s upcoming funeral.

Olbermann first took his latest shot at CNN CEO Chris Licht, reiterating his claim that when the pair worked together at MSNBC he thought Licht “ate paste”, before turning his attention to Tapper.

“Jake Tapper indicated he is going along with the Licht/(John) Malone conversion of CNN into Fox News — with nicer looking studios — by suggesting President Biden should invited Donald Trump — while he is under investigation for international nuclear weapon espionage crimes against this country — to join the American delegation to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth. Tapper also defended CNN’s sketchy legal analyst Elie Honig by launching an on-air attack on MSNBC. ‘A bunch of MSNBC legal commentators attacked you. Have they apologized at all? Have they acknowledged that they were wrong and you were right?'”

Olbermann was flabbergasted at the insinuation from Tapper that apologies needed to be exchanged between the two outlets, noting he felt entitled to apologies from CNN for his opinions on topics from the late 2000s.

“Oh my god, Jake. Are we gonna do CNN/MSNBC apologies now? How many do you guys owe me just over the Iraq war? Like 50? Terrorism another 75 or 100? And Jake, more importantly, did you kiss enough conservative ass this week?”

Tapper was awarded the title of “Worst Person in the World” from Olbermann during the podcast.
