While some terrestrial radio stations jumped into hiring college athletes, a web-based show caught BSM's attention about one year ago. The Next Round digital show based in Birmingham, Alabama, hired Alabama and Auburn football players to do a weekly interview on their daily 9a-1p show.
"Whether you are watching him on a national stage or locally, the enthusiasm he brings to the broadcast is incredible. Fun seems to surround his broadcasts, no matter who he is working with or what sport he’s calling."
"Teams are only as good as their players. Media brands are only as good as their talent. Their entire value is based on having people that the audience wants to watch or hear."
"Hutchinson and the bombshell information she had delivered boosted the hearings' ratings, scoring 13.2 million total viewers across all major networks"
"Is your point that Danny Ainge might be following the same blueprint in Utah that he executed in Boston? Because that’s a really good point. And instead of letting everyone twist themselves dizzy try to get there, why don’t you, I don’t know, say what you mean in the fewest words possible. That’s kind of the whole idea of effective communication."
"I suggest starting with 12-month contracts. I explain that this is the way to get the best rates on the station, and we can establish a 60-day out clause if they want to stop the advertising. It's best to plan for success. Who wants to lose 40 pounds but only commit to one week diet?"
"Perhaps the biggest issue I have is there’s nobody there to set the scene, or to build drama in key moments. Those big sequences in a game need a play-by-play announcer to let you know just how important this situation is to the game."
"I wouldn't be surprised if Greg Sankey has taken a phone call from Jimmy Pitaro or Burke Magnus asking how they would feel about it just meaning more to Duke and UNC."
"Luckily, I've been able to assemble a stellar group of people, which allows us to earn your attention each day, and I'm happy to reveal that we're adding to our roster yet again."
