Bert Blyleven worked his last game as a member of the Minnesota Twins team of rotating analysts. The former Twins pitcher and 2011 Baseball Hall of Fame inductee announced he was transitioning into a new role with the club as “special advisor.”
For the last 25 years Blyleven worked as a color commentator for the Twins, most recently on their flagship TV network FOX Sports North, but Wednesday night marked the end of an era, with the pitcher announcing the change on Twitter.
The 69-year old Blyleven contributed as an analyst for 80 broadcasts in 2018, 50 last year and was scheduled to call 30 games this summer, but that number was reduced due to the shortened season amid COVID-19.
Without Blyleven, the Twins TV crew will continue to feature longtime play-by-play voice Dick Bremer, along with a rotating group of analysts which includes Justin Morneau, Roy Smalley, Torii Hunter and LaTroy Hawkins.
