After more than 25 years on the radio airwaves, conservative radio host Michael Savage has announced he’ll be leaving the medium in January 2021. The radio legend will continue to share his opinions on the world exclusively thru his Savage Nation Podcast which will be distributed thru the Westwood One Podcast Network.
“I have a big announcement to make,” Savage told his audience on Wednesday. “Come January, you’re only going to hear me on my podcast. You will not hear me on this radio station anymore as of January. I cannot give you the reasons; I am constrained for legal reasons. But you will no longer hear Michael Savage on radio anywhere in America.”
The news surprised many of Savage’s listeners as it suggested there was more to the story than he could share. Savage later took to Twitter where he hinted at why the exit from radio was taking place.
Savage’s radio career began in San Francisco at 810 KGO in March 1994. He started as a fill-in host for Ray Taliaferro and was launched on to the national scene in September 2000 when The Savage Nation earned syndication from TRN. He has since gone on to author more than 25 books including nine New York Times best-sellers. His national radio program, The Savage Nation, has been heard by more than 10 million listeners per week.
