TALKRADIO 77 WABC in New York is honoring law enforcement with a day-long tribute called “Back the Blue.” The event kicked off this morning with a press conference that featured host Sid Rosenberg and the station’s owner John Catsimatidis.
“Here at WABC, we back the blue,” said Rosenberg. During the all-day tribute, WABC will honor the men and women in law enforcement who risk their lives every day to keep the New York Metro Area safe.
In recent months, shootings and murders in NYC have spiked just as the NYPD is contending with a record number of retirements and the cancellation of one academy class in March that would have allowed the department to deploy hundreds of officers to the streets.
“As New Yorkers, we want to let the police know that we appreciate all that they do for us,” VP of programming Dave LaBrozzi said in a release. “The 77 WABC “Back the Blue” special is one way we can honor police officers across the New York Metro Area.”
Listeners are encouraged to tie a blue ribbon on trees, bushes or park benches to show their support for the men and women in blue.
