MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is in quarantine after someone in her inner circle tested positive for COVID-19. She tweeted that she tested negative for the virus but that she intends to stay at home so that she does not put anyone at risk.
“See you soon!” she added. “Wishing everyone patience and calm; may these remarkable times bring out the best in all of us.”
Maddow was absent from her broadcast on Friday. Viewers watched Nicolle Wallace, Joy Reid, Brian Williams and Steve Kornacki.
Last week, MSNBC was one of multiple networks to cut away from coverage of President Donald Trump’s speech, in which he claimed victory in the presidential election without evidence.
Maddow said her quarantine will be a wait-and-see approach. “I’ve tested negative thus far but will be at home quarantining ’til it’s safe for me to be back at work without putting anyone at risk.”
Her absence came at a pivotal time for the network with the election results still up in the air. On Saturday, it was announced that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the presumptive winners after they won the state of Pennsylvania.
