Erich Mancow Muller will be leaving his position doing mornings for WLS 890 AM in Chicago effective November 25.
Muller cited the difficult situation given the pandemic and the election season have prevented Muller from enjoying the work he’s been doing.
“Much of the enjoyment I had left doing radio has been sucked out of it,” he said on Monday. ““Alone in an office building with no guests and endless rules is not my idea of a creative process. . . . For me, no interaction has been the radio kiss of death. Talking during this political season and hearing endless tales of woe from my listeners has been radio without joy.”
“Mancow has done everything we asked him to do,” said Marv Nyren, vice president and market manager of Cumulus Media Chicago. “It’s been a gem for two years.”
Muller has been hosting the morning drive show on WLS since 2019. His career in Chicago has spanned 26 years and taken him to the airwaves locally and nationally. This is his second stint at WLS. The first spanned 2008-2010.
