Grassroots journalism organization Project Veritas was banned from Twitter Thursday after they repeatedly shared other people’s private information, the social media platform said.
Project Veritas is known for its unique enterprise story angles. The Twitter ban came less than 24 hours after they leaked clips from a meeting with Facebook executives who discussed censorship tactics.
Facebook’s VP of Integrity, Guy Rosen, is heard on one of the clips discussing how the company can freeze commenting on threads of perceived hate speech.
“When you talk about freezing comments containing hate speech, what do you mean by that?” the Veritas reporter asks. “How do you define ‘hate speech?’ Is it just speech that you hate?”
Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe’s Twitter account was temporarily locked as of Thursday.
In the clip, the numbers on the exec’s home address were visible, but the street name was not. License plates on surrounding cars are blurred.
O’Keefe told The Wrap he was “wrestling” with whether to delete the tweets flagged by Twitter to regain access to his personal account.
