BuzzFeed Reportedly Eyes Complex Networks Purchase

Last year, BuzzFeed acquired HuffPost from Verizon Media, and now the internet media company seeks to add another outlet.

The Hill reports that BuzzFeed could buy Complex Networks, a modern entertainment company, in an agreement that would result in a merge with special acquisition company 890 Fifth Avenue Partners and go public.

Should the merge occur, BuzzFeed would acquire Complex’s media brands such as First We Feast,” “Sole Collector,” and “Pigeons and Planes.”

“We have no news to announce today and can’t confirm or comment on potential acquisitions or other plans,” a BuzzFeed spokesman said. When reached for a request to comment from The Hill, 890 Fifth Avenue Partners didn’t immediately reply.

The BuzzFeed news comes on the heels of merger talks between Vice Media and investment company 7GC & Co Holdings which values Vice at nearly $3 billion. Last month, there was also news of a potential special acquisition company deal that would take Forbes Media public.
