Bishop Sycamore Doc Coming From Rich Paul, Kevin Hart

Bishop Sycamore football is the gift that keeps on giving. Less than a week after the allegedly fake Ohio high school lost to Florida’s IMG Academy in a 58-0 route, internet detectives starting digging up all kinds of details about the school, its football program, and the men behind it. Now Hollywood is getting involved.

Rich Paul and Kevin Hart have secured exclusive interviews with current and former coaches and players for the school and intend to make a documentary series according to Deadline. Their production companies, Klutch Originals and HartBeat Productions, are looking for showrunners to shepherd the project.

“As soon as I started following this story, I was immediately drawn to it and knew it was something that myself and my team at HartBeat had to dive into. HBP thrives in the doc-series space,” Kevin Hart said in a statement. “We understand how to break down stories and capture the most interesting and honest moments in a narrative. We know this con comes with a robust backstory and cannot wait to share it with the world.”

It will be interesting to see what details come to light regarding how the project came together. Just last week, Paul Pabst revealed that Bishop Sycamore representatives asked for payment to appear on FOX Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick Show. Can we assume they asked for the same considerations to participate in this project?

Complex Networks is also part of the project. The company’s reporting on Bishop Sycamore’s loss to IMG Academy and the way that game came together and made its way to ESPN are the building blocks for the story the series will tell.

“The story of Bishop Sycamore has quickly become one of the most unique roller coaster plots sports has ever seen,” Zion Olojede, an editor at Complex, told Deadline. “Our extensive research and interviews about the program have revealed alleged dark secrets and details that have put Complex at the forefront of this coverage and global conversation.
