Alex Rodriguez doesn’t have a lot of fans when it comes to his performance in ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball booth. On Wednesday, media members across the country blasted him and Matt Vasgersian for their performance during the AL Wild Card Gae between the Yankees and Red Sox. Chris “Mad Dog Russo” joined that chorus during his SiriusXM show.
“That was a horrendous, horrendous broadcasting performance. Number one, A-Rod is inept,” Russo said after saying that he likes Matt Vasgersian and hates that the play-by-play man is getting lumped into the criticism.
More than anger, Russo showed confusion. He doesn’t understand why no one is listening to the fans. Rodriguez’s performances are met with criticism regularly.
“He’s a terrible, terrible analyst. I don’t know why Bob Iger or anybody over there at ESPN or somebody, Eric Shanks at FOX, somehow, someway they think the baseball world wants to hear ARod do these games,” he said. “Nobody knows the baseball world better than me as far as fans and everything else. I’ve done a show every day on it, winter included, and I haven’t met anyone in my life that has ever come up to me on the tennis court, on the golf course, on the air when I’m doing shows that said ‘Chris, you know what? ARod’s great.’ Nobody!”
ARod has made a lot of mistakes and strange comments during his broadcasting career. The Big Lead put together a story using tweets from fans that were confused by his comments on Tuesday night alone.
