WGR Isn’t Familiar With WEEI’s Rich Keefe

The New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills play this week on Monday Night Football. As is often the case, sports radio stations in each city listen to clips from the other for material to bring to the air. Sal Capaccio and Joe DiBiase of Buffalo’s WGR found something to latch onto on WEEI’s Gresh & Keefe.

The hosts of The Extra Point Show didn’t like that Keefe was hesitant to say that Josh Allen was a better quarterback than Mac Jones. The problem is, they didn’t know Keefe’s first name. That made for great content on the Boston station.

“Son of a bitch!” Rich Keefe shouted when the clip was played for him. “Come on! If you don’t know it, you don’t need to know it. It’s Gresh & Keefe. You got that right!”

Rich Keefe’s partner, Andy Gresh laughed and couldn’t believe Rich didn’t see the setup coming.

“You had to know that was coming,” Gresh said. “That was great!”

Keefe reminded Gresh and producer John Anderson that another show once referred to them as “Slim Whitman and Fat Eddie.” They loved that nickname so much, Keefe says they actually considered changing the name of the show.

Sal Capaccio followed up on Twitter and had a little more fun with the bit.

Gresh & Keefe then listened to The Extra Point Show critique their question and get upset that Keefe suggested the gap between Mac Jones and Josh Allen may not be as large as some think. The most newsworthy thing to come out of the segment, at least according to the Boston hosts, was that Rich Keefe is relatively anonymous in Buffalo.
