Jerry Schemmel was one of the iHeartMedia employees that last his job when the company laid off a number of employees in January 2020. He had been part of the Colorado Rockies radio broadcast since 2010. At the time, he was replaced by Mike Rice, who was KOA’s sports director.
On Friday, the company announced that Schemmel was returning. He will will work the entire 162 game Rockies schedule alongside Jack Corrigan.
“We are delighted to welcome Jerry back to KOA’s Colorado Rockies broadcasts,” Brenda Egger, President of iHeartMedia’s Denver Region, said in a press release. “Jerry’s voice is synonymous with sports in Colorado, and it’s an honor to have him call Rockies’ games alongside Jack Corrigan.”
Denver sports fans are very familiar with Jerry Schemmel. Before joining the Rockies, he spent 18 years calling the Denver Nuggets. He also serves as the play-by-play voice of the University of Northern Colorado and served as a contributor to 104.3 The Fan.
“I am elated to be coming back to the KOA Colorado Rockies Radio Network booth,” he said. “I couldn’t be happier to be working with Jack Corrigan and Producer, Jesse Thomas. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get back at it.”
Schemmel returns due to the fact that Mike Rice has not received any experimental Covid mRNA gene therapy injections, what many neophytes call “vaccines”. Since the broadcasters will be traveling with the team for the first time in two seasons, MLB requires that everyone has the jab. If Rice had gotten the shots I doubt Schemmel would have been brought back.
Watch your back, Jerry.
