There is a new television voice of the Washington Wizards. NBC Sports Washington is promoting one of its own and putting Chris Miller courtside next season.
Miller came to NBC Sports Washington back when it was called Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic. Since 2007, he has served as a reporter, host, and commentator, covering the team across a number of shows.
“Chris is a tremendously experienced professional and a Wizards authority whose knowledge and passion for the team, league and sport has earned the respect of fans, colleagues and the basketball community,” NBC Sports Washington President & General Manager Jackie Bradford said in a press release. “This is a well-earned opportunity for Chris to take an even larger role and make an even greater impact on our Wizards coverage. We look forward to the great experience he’ll bring to fans every gameday.”
Justin Kutcher, who called the action for the Wizards for the last 3 seasons, announced on Friday that he was leaving the network to pursue other opportunities.
Next season’s Wizards broadcast team will feature Miller calling the action. Drew Gooden will serve as analyst.
“I used to believe my dream was impossible, but now it’s reality and I couldn’t be more honored and excited,” Chris Miller said. “There are many people responsible for getting me to this point, but my family deserves a special thanks for being with me on this 25-year journey. I look forward to seeing the fans next season and can’t wait for tipoff.”
