Portland-based syndicated radio host Lars Larson recently celebrated 25 years behind the microphone at FM News 101 KXL. Larson’s show is distributed nationally to more than 100 radio affiliates around the country by Compass Media Networks.
According to Talkers, KXL posted a video tribute to Larson’s career in radio which started at the age of 16 at KTIL in Tillamook, Oregon. He would go on to work at stations in Eugene, Oregon and Spokane, Washington, and other markets before landing at KXL.
Larson would earn national recognition by filling in for Michael Savage. According to his Wikipedia, Larson was hired by Westwood One to host his own show for national syndication. The show debuted in 2003 and grew to 175 affiliates. The company canceled the show six years later.
In 2009, “The Lars Larson Show” resurfaced on Compass Media Networks. According to Radio Ink, Compass offered Larson a seven-year extension to run through 2023.
“Lars has been the voice of conservative talk in the Pacific Northwest for over 2 decades, and during that time has talked to some of the biggest names in politics, entertainment, and pop culture that America has to offer,” said KXL.
If you’re in the Portland area, you can catch Lars on 101.1 KXL Monday – Friday from 12-4 PST.
