This week will be the 122nd U.S. Open Championship from Brookline, Massachusetts. SiriusXM announced their extensive and exclusive programming coverage for the even which takes place this week, June 16-19.
Listeners will be provided with more than 40 hours of live shot-by-shot coverage across all four rounds of play. Starting with Thursday and Friday, coverage on the course will begin with the day’s first tee time at 6:45 a.m. ET thru the end of play. On Saturday and Sunday, shot-coverage will begin at 10 am ET.
SiriusXM’s U.S. Open Championship broadcast team will feature play-by-play voice Brian Katrek and lead analyst Mark Carnevale. Fred Albers, Carl Paulson, Dennis Paulson, John Maginnes and Andres Gonzales will be on-course reporters.
On Thursday and Friday, The Starter with Taylor Zarzour, Michael Breed and Greg DuCharme will be on live in the morning to provide coverage as the earliest groups tee off.
Chantel McCabe, Jason Sobel and Taylor Zarzour will serve as hosts, provide leaderboard updates and conduct interviews with players. Swing coach Jim McLean will provide reports from the range as players warm up for their rounds.
A hot topic will continue to be the return of golfers like Phil Mickelson who were suspended by the PGA when they defected to play in the LIV Tour. The U.S. Open is not run by the PGA Tour but by the USGA and they decreed that those that left the PGA for the LIV would be allowed to participate in the U.S. Open. It will be worth listening to see if the radio partner for the USGA will be as vocal about any angst as was the television partners of the PGA Tour this weekend.
SiriusXM will also provide a three-hour wrap-up of the day’s play following each day. Fred Couples, who competed in 23 U.S. Open Championships, will also host a new episode of The Fred Couples Show.
U.S. Open programming on SiriusXM will air nationwide on channel 92 on SiriusXM radios.
