The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame has picked Howard Eskin as part of its 2022 class. The sports talk pioneer will be included in the November induction ceremony.
“It’s an honor to be selected and to be in such great company. Really overwhelming,” He told Audacy reporter Andrew Porter. “They say do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. As hard as I work, I have to admit, it is a labor of love.”
He will be inducted alongside former Phillies star Jimmy Rollins, boxing great Bernard Hopkins, Eagles kicker David Akers, Villanova basketball coach Rollie Massimino, St. Joe’s basketball coach Phil Martelli, Temple fencing coach Nikki Franke, Flyers general manager Keith Allen, and Olympic gold medalist Penn rower Susan Francia.
Howard Eskin came to 94 WIP 35 years ago. That predates the brand adopting sports as a full-time format.
Eskin is no stranger to halls of fame. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2007, the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Hall of Fame in 2011, and the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall Of Fame in 2014.
Congratulations to Howard Eskin from all of us at Barrett Sports Media.
