The Team 980 is making lineup changes. Chris Russel and Pete Medhurst are moving from afternoon drive into midday.
Starting on June 27, Russell & Medhurst will air each weekday at 9 am. It is the first move the station has made since Travis Thomas announced in March that he was leaving to take a television job in Boston.
“We are going to now take over your late morning commute as you are stuck in traffic trying to get into DC or wherever you might be going,” Russell said in making the announcement.
The move will obviously leave an opening in afternoon drive. This is just the first of multiple changes coming to the station’s weekday lineup.
“They’ll be more stuff to come, okay, in terms of further announcements and all that stuff,” Russell said. “We’re announcing what we’re doing.”
Some listeners are bound to be upset. They have routines and choose Russell & Medhurst because The Team 980’s schedule fits their needs.
Russell said that he hopes people know this isn’t a move that was forced on them and if there are listeners that count on hearing the show in the afternoons, that is still going to be an option for them.
“Don’t be upset at anybody. Don’t be sad. You can listen any time you want via podcast. Matt podcasts every hour.”
Barrett Sports Media will report what other changes are coming to The Team 980 lineup as they are announced.
Hello- I’ve listened for years and been on 980 many times. I don’t know how anyone enjoys listening to Chris Russel. He’s always wrong, he’s obviously never played sport in life, and is sooo annoying.
Obviously I’m not alone since he’s now at worst time slot.
What does it take to send that Buffalo back to NY?
If you can’t find people shit I’ll do his job and anyones better.
Thank you and hope this makes everyone’s listening experience more enjoyable.
