The newest edition to The Greg Hill Show on WEEI was the subject of a profile here at Barrett Sports Media this week. Courtney Cox was interviewed by Brandon Kravitz.
In the column, she was asked what the “secret sauce” of the morning show is.
“I think first and foremost it’s Greg. He’s a magician,” Cox answered. “I’ve never seen someone so effortlessly move from one topic to another. One minute you’re talking to Bill Belichick and the next you’re ranking the best pizza in the city and you’re thinking ‘how did I get here?’.”
That quote became a favorite of Lou Merloni and Christian Fauria. The duo led their afternoon show on Wednesday with a discussion of the column.
“It was really good, talking about the show and success she’s had. It was really nice,” Merloni said. “But there was one part of this that sort of stuck out,” Merloni said.
They agreed that calling Greg Hill a “magician” was something they could not let slide by. Christian Fauria acted out a scenario of how Jermaine Wiggins and Courtney Cox must react to Hill in the studio each morning.
“He’s not here.” (Poof sound) “Oh my god! He is here!”
Merloni, Fauria, and Mike Mutnansky, who was in for regular co-host Meghan Ottolini, decided that from now on, Greg Hill would be known as “the Magic Man” in the WEEI hallways.
“There cannot be a better nickname. He is ‘The Magic Man’ from now on,” Fauria said laughing. “I will never reference him as Greg Hill ever. It’s ‘The Magic Man’. Poof! Now you see me. Now you don’t!”
