The set of Good Morning Football will look different for this football season. The first step was the announcement of a new host in Jamie Erdahl. The next will be the eventual announcement of a former player to replace Nate Burleson, which reportedly has Jason McCourty as the leader for that spot.
Peter Schrager, a valuable piece of the show, joined the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast hosted by Jimmy Traina and said he is excited for the year and namely about Erdahl joining the team.
“She’s excellent,” said Schrager. “I didn’t know her personally until this job came about. And I was a little bit surprised she would leave the #1 SEC gig, sidelines, every week doing the Saturday game, interviewing (Nick) Saban, the top of the top in college football to do our show which is a daily grind.”
Schrager also commented on what Erdahl did to make him think she would fit in just fine with the crew.
“Kyle (Brandt) and I text all the time,” said Schrager. “We just text ideas; we should do this, we should do that, we should do this. We were blown away that after our lunch with Jamie she was texting us ‘here’s this article on Stefon Diggs, what do you think? Should we do this, maybe?’. I’m like okay, she gets it. This is a living, breathing organism. You got to be all in on Good Morning Football.
The show is experiencing a lot of turnover this offseason, but he thinks it’s a chance for new perspectives and he can’t wait.
“Excited’s the word… I’m telling you our show is going to be funny as hell this year as we always bring in good comedy. But also I think with new perspectives it’s going to be a different show in a good way as well.”
