Many political pundits believe that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will eventually square off with former President Donald Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination.
On “The View” Monday, guest co-host Ana Navarro squared off with co-host Joy Behar about whether DeSantis is the same type of man that Trump is.
Navarro defended DeSantis saying that his lack of involvement in the events of Jan 6th makes him exempt from the same type of criticism that critics level at Trump. The conversation was captured on a video posted by Mediate.
“I live in Florida. As many issues as I have with DeSantis, I don’t think it’s the same thing because I don’t think DeSantis has been involved in promoting a coup against America and being part of the organization,” Navarro said.
Behar responded by discussing the Turning Point USA conference which took place in Florida last weekend.
“This Turning Point conference with all the smoke. What are they, smoking something down there? Or it’s, like — whatever. Anyway, they were out there. Neo-Nazis were out there in the front of the conference with anti-Semitic slurs, and, you know, the Nazi swastika and a picture of a so-called Jewish person with exaggerated features,” Behar said.
“So why trade a headache for an upset stomach? Because that’s what’s going to happen if they get rid of Trump and put him in. It’s the same thing,” she added.
