Gregg Giannotti Texts Boomer Esiason During ‘The NFL Today’

During Boomer & Gio on WFAN Monday, it was revealed the Gregg Giannotti used to periodically text co-host Boomer Esiason while he’s on the air during The NFL Today on CBS.

After Esiason said he would frequently text New York Mets television analyst Ron Darling during broadcasts, the former Pro Bowl quarterback said someone texting him during a broadcast was something he has experienced.

“It used to happen to me all the time, too, when I was doing games,” Esiason argued. “Even with the NFL Today, I’ll get text messages if Phil’s (Simms) not wearing the right outfit or something. Or my suit’s too tight. Whatever. And you’re texting me during The NFL Today.”

Giannotti then said he hasn’t sent his co-host a text message during his CBS pregame duties after an ill fated message.

“I try to but you didn’t like the one time I did. You came in on Monday and you were like ‘I really wish you would leave me alone’. You said this on the air. So I haven’t done it since that day. I did, though. Because I think its cool when you’re like ‘Ok. That guy’s on TV. I can get to him right now! How cool is this?!'”

“That happens a lot,” Boomer added.

Esiason later said he sends messages to Darling during the broadcasts because he wants to be involved because the Mets are having a good season filled with “buzz” while the Yankees currently lack that same “buzz”.
