Bomani Jones, ESPN Agree To New Deal

Fans of Bomani Jones can finally exhale. A new episode of his ESPN podcast The Right Time dropped on Thursday morning. It is the first new episode since July, when he announced that he would be taking time off.

“It’s a little weird, the way it had to wrap up from last time,” Jones said to Domonique Foxworth, who joined him both on his last episode in July and on the new episode that came out Thursday. “Domonique, you was here for the weird of it. I don’t even think you fully understood either and everybody was like ‘oh damn, what happened?’.”

BSM learned that while he did have a vacation scheduled, Jones and his representatives were still in negotiations for a new contract even as the previous one was set to expire.

Jones suggested that he was never worried about a new deal getting done, but clearly the people that listen to The Right Time were.

“It wasn’t really nothing I felt like talking about. It was maybe something I coulda told y’all about it. I didn’t necessarily feel like it. I kept trying to tell y’all on Twitter ‘I’m good. Everything’s good. We good. Don’t worry.’ Then, I realized y’all wasn’t worried. Y’all are just greedy.”

Sources have told Barrett Sports Media that Bomani Jones does have a new deal with ESPN. The contract is focused largely on his digital content, but does include a limited number of TV appearances.

Details regarding financial terms and number of years were unavailable.

While listeners can expect to hear new episodes of The Right Time in the coming weeks, they will not be coming on a regular schedule. The show returns to its previous schedule of three episodes each week in October.
