College football fans’ eyes bugged out of their heads last Saturday when the cast of College GameDay made their 2023 College Football Playoff predictions. The internet exploded with plenty of jokes and even a few insults when Desmond Howard picked Texas A&M, Pitt, Michigan and Baylor to make the field of four.
Friday on The Dan Patrick Show, David Pollack said he was as shocked as anyone else when the graphic showing his co-star’s selections came on screen.
“You get all of our picks, Dan, and they’re kind of boring. Sometimes you want to shake it up,” he said. “He shook it up alright!”
Pollack picked Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Utah as his playoff field. The rest of the cast all had something very similar with everyone but Desmond Howard projecting Alabama and Ohio State in the playoff.
So what was the goal for Desmond Howard? Pollack isn’t quite sure what the Heisman Trophy winner had in mind but gives him credit for being bold and creating headlines.
“I’m not buying that he might fully believe all those picks, but if any of them come to fruition, shoot! It’ll be a heck of a call.”
College GameDay begins its 2022 season in earnest this week. The show is on the road in Columbus, where Ohio State will take on Notre Dame.
