An all new FS1 television lineup began today when First Things First moved to the afternoon with Craig Carton debuting his new show, The Carton Show, at 7 AM ET. First Things First with Nick Wright, Kevin Wildes, and Chris Broussard will now air every weekday from 3-4:30 PM ET in a new studio.
Wright took the time to talk about the changes on his Twitter feed and on his podcast, What’s Wright? with Nick Wright. Wright likes the change from an emotional standpoint because it gives him time to do something he hasn’t had the chance to do.
“For 10 years in a row, I’ve had 5 AM wakeup calls. That’s now gone. I have not been able to take my kids to school for a single day. I now can take them to school and because of the schedule, I get to pick them up from school everyday.”
On a personal note, Wright is honored to be able to follow Colin Cowherd and The Herd every weekday because of how important Cowherd has been in his career.
“It means Colin Cowherd, who was once upon a time my professional idol, then became my professional mentor, and now has become one of my dearest friends in the world, he gets to hand it off to us every single day. The honor and the privilege of being able to take the baton from Colin to keep the day on FS1 going is honestly unlike anything I have ever experienced in my career.”
With a new time slot, Wright thinks that the show will be able to take advantage of the new time frame now that they are on at noon on the West Coast instead of being on at 6 AM.
“I also think the sports media landscape in that time frame we are on, there is an opening to make some noise and we are in a brand new studio.”
