SuperTalk 99.7 WTN morning host Dan Mandis revealed his proudest moment of his radio career during a discussion on Nashville’s Morning News Wednesday.
After discussing the upcoming autobiography from AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson, Mandis began discussing his favorite broadcasting moments, before deciding on one segment in particular that meant a lot to the host and one of his listeners.
“I did a whole monologue on people who wait until someone’s on their deathbed to reconnect. I actually inspired a woman — (she) heard that monologue — and she reconnected with her father. She wrote me a note — I wish I could remember what city it was in — but she reconnected with her father and she literally thanked me for that monologue. Couple of years later, her father passed away and she sent me another note. She said thank you for once again inspiring me to reconnect because once he passed away, there were no regrets. For me, that was my proudest moment. Because I was able to help someone. I was able to inspire someone to do the right thing.”
Mandis, who recently noted he nearly joined the military instead of entering the radio business, continued by saying he marvels at the fact that he gets paid to work with people he loves at a job he loves every morning.
