For the last 30 years, sports fans in Charlotte have heard WFNZ on 610 AM. That came to an end this week.
Earlier this year, the station moved its FM frequency from 102.5 FM to the much stronger 92.7 FM. That signal is now the exclusive terrestrial home of the station after sports programming disappeared from 610 AM.
The station had been promoting the change for the past two weeks to give the people still utilizing the AM frequency time to make the switch to either the FM signal or the station’s app.
Plenty of changes have come to WFNZ in 2022. The station welcomed new program director Jeff Rickard in May after Terry Foxx left Charlotte to return home to Texas. Midday host Nick Wilson said goodbye in July to return to Cleveland.
