New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is still chasing the franchise and American League record for home runs in a single season, and ESPN 97.5 morning co-host John Granato couldn’t care less.
After a week of coverage centered around Judge, and consternation about the possibility of Judge breaking the record on AppleTV+, which would have limited coverage. ESPN and MLB Network broke into coverage during Judge’s at-bats over the weekend, which caught the ire of Granato.
“I don’t care about Albert Pujols. You know what else I’m sick of hearing about? I don’t care about Aaron Judge,” Granato said. “ESPN cut in all the time. I was listening to our station the weekend, I’m driving, they’re talking college football, and then ‘Let’s cut-in to Aaron Judge’s at-bat’. No! I don’t care! Stop with Aaron Judge! No one gives a rat’s ass, outside of New York. Who cares? Stop already. Bonds hit 73. This is 61. He’s gonna pass Roger Maris for the American League lead and the Yankee lead. Who cares?!”
Granato later asked who held the National League record for consecutive games with at least one-hit. Joe DiMaggio holds the record at 56, set with the Yankees. Pete Rose had a hit in 44 straight games, but no one cares, because it’s not the record, he argued.
Amen! I change the channel when they do this. I had no idea who Judge was. Not only do I not care, but now I’m obliged to hate this guy! Forever!
Wise up producers. If I wanted to take a nap I’d already have the baseball game on! Stop interrupting college football.
