Longtime journalist Katie Couric has announced she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The former NBC, CBS, ABC, and now podcast host revealed the diagnosis on Instagram, saying she received the word on June 21st. June 21st was her 8th wedding anniversary to husband John Molner. Her first husband, Jay Monahan, died from cancer in 1998.
Couric had surgery in July to remove a tumor from her breast, and also said she began radiation treatments earlier this month.
“Please get your annual mammogram,” the 65-year-old Couric said on her website. “I was six months late this time. I shudder to think what might have happened if I had put it off longer. But just as importantly, please find out if you need additional screening.”
