ESPN has confirmed its broadcaster assignments for the upcoming Major League Baseball Wild Card round, and WFAN morning host Gregg Giannotti said Mets fans should be happy with the crew they were given.
“All these Wild Card games are going to be on ESPN, so get ready for complaining,” Giannotti said. “Get ready for announcers you don’t like, but the Mets did dodge a bullet because Michael Kay and Alex Rodriguez are calling a Wild Card series, and it could have been the Mets but it’s not. They will be calling the Cardinals and the Phillies. But imagine that, if Michael Kay and Alex Rodriguez were doing the Mets series — and they were losing — that would have really been the cherry on top of this crap sundae. “
“So we’re gonna get (Karl) Ravech, (David) Cone, and (Eduardo) Perez, wit Buster Olney?”, co-host Boomer Esiason asked.
“Basically, the Sunday Night Baseball crew,” said Giannotti.
The two then discussed what time the Mets games against the Padres would be scheduled, noting that with the New York market coupled with a West coast team, it’s likely each game will be in primetime.
