Jeremy White: Al Michaels Is A Legend, Can Say Games Stink

The Thursday Night Football game between the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos certainly won’t go down in history as one of the finest NFL games ever played. Amazon Prime Video announcer Al Michaels pointed that out during the broadcast, and WGR Howard and Jeremy host Jeremy White appreciated the candor.

At one point in the broadcast, Michaels asked analyst Kirk Herbstreit if a game can be so bad it’s good, which Herbstreit responded simply “no”.

“It felt like — I don’t know if you felt this way watching it — Al Michaels is like ‘I’m a legend, I can say this game is bad’,” White said. “And (Kirk) Herbstreit is not in the same mindset. Herbstreit is like ‘But it’s really important here!’ being a try-hard like ‘There’s a lot of hard play out there’.”

“You don’t hear a network guy say a game is bad that often in the National Football League, so it’s nice that he admitted it,” Joe DiBiase, filling in for Howard Simon, said. “He tried to make it sound good, but it’s nice that he actually admitted it.”

White’s comments came after he reiterated that he believes the Amazon Prime Video broadcast is the best in the NFL. White and DiBiase said Prime Video analyst Richard Sherman couldn’t hold back last night on his former teammate Russell Wilson after the analyst had taken shots at Wilson throughout the summer. The pair thought Sherman had harsh, but fair criticism of Wilson.
