A brand new NBA season tipped off on Tuesday night. The Golden State Warriors hosted the Los Angeles Lakers in the late game. What should have been a night of celebration was overshadowed by the fight earlier this month in practice between Jordan Poole and Draymond Green. Joe Shasky said Wednesday morning that it will be a story all year long.

He criticized TNT’s national broadcast for the way they talked about the fight. He said a fight between teammate in practice was treated like something that happens regularly.

That is not what Chris Mullen had to say on the NBC Sports Bay Area broadcast. Shasky found it refreshing that someone acknowledged the fanbase’s fear.

“Mullen gives you authentic,” he told his co-host Bonta Hill on 95.7 The Game’s Morning Roast. “There is no broadcaster BS when I hear him and he basically said ‘Does it happen? Yes. It’s few and far between,’ and I’m paraphrasing here ‘but it’s always a negative.’ And he’s the first person I’ve heard say that. People are trying to spin this into a positive. Bonta, it’s always a negative thing for everyone involved. That resonated with me.”

He said that the tension amongst the Warriors is clear right now even to the people watching at home. Hill, who was in the arena for the game, said that no fans booed Draymond Green when he received his championship ring, but his ovation was dwarfed by the ones many other players got.

Joe Shasky said this is the kind of thing that will happen all year. People are going to want to know what is happening in every huddle. They are going to overanalyze every player’s social media. It is a story that isn’t going away, particularly when the Warriors go on the road.

“For me, I just think that we’re doing too much trying to analyze reactions and people dapping each other up, but you’re right. B, it’s not gonna go away.”
