Larry Young Retiring From WOLB

Larry Young has announced his retirement from WOLB Talk 1010 in Baltimore.

Young began his radio career in 1996 after serving as a Maryland State Senator for a decade. Starting as a weekend host, Young moved to mornings in 1998.

“Talk radio can be a major influence,” Young told afro.com. “We can help make a difference, create the environment for change and give space for the people to have a say…Black media desires to tell both sides of a story and highlight narratives not often told. Without Black talk stations, we would not hear Black stories, deeply rooted in the concerns of our community.”

“We will miss The Larry Young Morning Show,” Mark Cannon, one of Young’s former co-hosts, said. “We’re going to miss having a platform for the Black community to hear from politicians and talk about our pressing issues.”

Young has faced significant health challenges recently, having one of his legs amputated earlier this year after an infection. The Larry Young Morning Show will officially come to an end at the end of the year.
