Glenn Beck: Media Disparaged Donald Trump Announcement

Nationally syndicated radio host Glenn Beck said Wednesday that former President Donald Trump was on his best behavior Tuesday while announcing his 2024 Presidential election bid.

Beck said several mainstream media outlets like the Washington Post, NPR, and CNN wrote disparaging headlines about Trump’s announcement.

“I thought Donald Trump did the best that he could do last night without firing off any shots,” Beck said. “But it wasn’t enough for the media.”

“This is from the Washington Post,” he said. “Donald Trump, the twice impeached president who refused to concede defeat and inspired a failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election, culminating in a deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol, officially declared on Tuesday night that he’s running to retake the White House in 2024.”

Beck said CNN wrote that Trump aims to become only the second commander and chief ever elected to two non-consecutive terms.

“Trump delivered a relatively subdued speech, rife with exaggerated claims about his four years in office,” Beck said of the CNN piece. “At least at CNN, it took them three paragraphs, where the Washington Post got it all in at one.”

Steve Burguiere, aka Stu, said media outlets were quick to editorialize Tuesday’s news while reminding readers about Trump’s sorted past in the White House.

“We all remember the story,” he added. “You don’t need to remind us. They all put it in the headlines.”

Beck stated that Fox News spent 45 minutes covering Trump’s announcement. CNN devoted 25 minutes of airtime covering the event at Mar-a-Lago. MSNBC did not cover the press conference at all.

  1. The closing comment in this story is simply incorrect.

While MSNBC didn’t air the announcement event live, they DID cover the story, mentioning and analyzing it as it happened on Alex Wagner’s program.

If your point was to say they didn’t air it live, then say that, but don’t say they “did not cover” the event when any objective review of the programming they aired during that hour would clearly demonstrate the opposite.
