During an interview with 95.7 The Game’s Steiny & Guru, things got contentious for just a moment between the show’s Matt Steinmetz and ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.
Steinmetz lamented the downfall of the Golden State Warriors, saying their dynasty is over and their championship window has closed.
“Let me ask you a question,” Smith said. “Who is the reigning — defending — NBA champion?”
“That was the team formerly known as the Warriors,” responded Matt Steinmetz.
“No, no, no, no, no,” Smith rebutted. “I asked you to answer the question.”
“It’s agenda city out here!,” countered Steinmetz. “It’s the Warriors.”
“Thank you,” Smith politely said. “So my point to you is this: How can you say the dynasty is over in November when the playoffs don’t start until April for the reigning, defending NBA champions? With all due respect, do you have any idea how ridiculously clueless you sound?”
Steinmetz then argued the Warriors can not both try to develop new talent while also trying win a championship.
It was the second time Smith had a contentious interview with a local radio host Thursday, after speaking with Shan and RJ on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas after calling them out on First Take on consecutive days.
