CNN Names Phil Mattingly New Chief White House Correspondent

CNN has announced Phil Mattingly will serve as the network’s new Chief White House Correspondent.

The move comes on the heels of Kaitlan Collins — who previously served in the role — being elevated to co-host of the network’s new morning show, CNN This Morning.

Mattingly joined CNN in 2015 to cover the following year’s Republican Presidential Primary. He has also worked for the network as a congressional correspondent.

The network also announced MJ Lee has been elevated to succeed Mattingly as the Senior White House Correspondent. She joined CNN in 2015. CNN also added Priscilla Alvarez to its White House stable. She joined CNN from The Atlantic in 2019.
