Keith Olbermann: Elon Musk, John Malone Working From Same Playbook

Podcaster Keith Olbermann believes that there are similarities between Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter and John Malone’s purchase of CNN.

On his most recent “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” podcast, he said Musk bought Twitter under the guise of the platform being a “dangerous and rigged plot” against the right. He said Musk’s actions were comparable to the position taken by CNN’S new boss, John Malone.

“Musk claimed that Twitter 2.0 is centrist, balanced, and corrective, “stated Olbermann. “It is moving the proverbial Overton window in a way never dreamt of before.”

Olbermann said in Twitter’s case it’s trying to tell 400 million users that what two months ago was the far right, is now the center and what two months ago was the center, is now the far and “dangerous left.”

“Did Musk design this play?” Olbermann said. “Did he wildly overspend on Twitter intentionally just to manipulate its politics?”

Olbermann concluded that Musk did not plan things to go as they have at Twitter.

“When ultra-conservative media baron John Malone bought CNN and hired a hatchet man like Chris Licht to gut its successful shows and push its conservative talent, Malone didn’t say I am buying CNN to kill.”

Olbermann added that Malone first “softened” up CNN by saying that the network needed to get back to neutrality like Brett Baier’s newscasts which is exactly the way Musk bought Twitter and positioned himself as a centrist who backed Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
