Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro said Friday that Kanye West’s behavior on the “Alex Jones Show” is indicative of a man in the middle of a mental breakdown.
Shapiro, who is Jewish, condemned West’s comments praising Hitler and said there are people around the rapper who are more interested in making money off him than encouraging him to seek help.
Shapiro noted that Alex Jones was very uncomfortable with West’s comments and added that there’s a certain “perverse hilarity” to Jones being a moderate on the panel that featured West and political commentator Nick Fuentes.
“This is a person (West) in the middle of a mental breakdown,” Shapiro stated. “I say that advisedly. I’m not here to pathologize people’s evil; in fact, I prefer for people to take responsibility for their evil.”
“I see good things about Hitler,” Ye said. He also added that the Holocaust “didn’t happen.”
Shortly after Ye’s antisemitic comments, Twitter announced it was suspending his account.
“I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence,” Twitter owner Elon Musk tweeted. “Account will be suspended.”
Shapiro asserted that Ye’s behavior is to a point where he would not be surprised if he harmed himself.
“My grandfather was schizophrenic, so I know what mental illness looks like,” Shapiro said. “This is a serious mental illness and people are treating it for a variety of reasons like it is not.”
