Nick Handley is returning to 1620 The Zone to host the station’s morning show alongside Gary Sharp.
Mornings with Sharp & Handley will be heard weekdays from 6:00-10:00 AM on the Omaha station.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the 1620 The Zone team and come back to the place where I got my start in radio. Gary Sharp is one of the best in this business,” Handley said.
His return comes after spending the past 9 years as a host at AM 590 ESPN Omaha, hosting The Nick Handley Show in afternoons.
“I’m excited to add Nick to our lineup. I’ve known Nick for a while and he will be a valuable piece to our morning show and 1620 The Zone,” new co-host Gary Sharp added.
In addition to his work at AM 590 ESPN Omaha, Handley also has worked as the play-by-play announce for Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball games.
NRG Media, which owns 1620 The Zone, was excited to pair Sharp and Handley together.
“Pairing two of the best sports talk hosts in Omaha together is a huge win for 1620 The Zone and for our listeners as well,” Operations Manager David Adams said.
Handley steps into the role previously held by Damon Benning, who departed earlier this year to join the Husker Sports Radio Network.
