Joy Behar: Barbara Walters’ Work Ethic Was Legendary

Journalist Barbara Walters has been in the hearts and minds of those who worked with her and loved her since she passed away last weekend at the age of 93.

“The View” co-host Joy Behar appeared on “Good Morning America” Saturday to reflect on Walters’ legacy and her influence on show business. Behar said Walters was a role model to many in the news world.

“She had a work ethic you couldn’t deny. She was always prepared; she was always working on her material,” said Behar via Fox News Digital. “She never went out there and didn’t know what she was doing. That was an important thing to learn.”

Walters created “The View” in 1997. Originally, the show planned to bring women from various backgrounds together to discuss trending news topics.

“I went to her house a lot of times for dinner, she always had an array of the brilliant people of our time at the table, and she would always include me and my husband as if we were part of that particular group of people, which we were not,” Behar said.

According to the Los Angeles Times. Walters officially retired in 2014 but quickly announced she was “coming out of retirement” to do a special “20/20” interview with the father of Elliot Rodger, the UC Santa Barbara student who killed six people and wounded 14.

In 1997, Behar became one of the original panelists of “The View.” After that, Behar said she wasn’t against the idea of co-hosting a daytime talk show.

“Daytime talk show? I don’t know about that; it doesn’t seem to be my cup of tea,’” Behar added. “This was different, and it had Barbara at the helm, and that’s when I decided I’ll take the job because if she was in charge of it, it would be a smart show.”
