Political journalist Paul Sperry told Fox News Radio host Brian Kilmeade on Tuesday that his free speech rights were violated by California Rep. Adam Schiff (D).
Sperry said Twitter banned his account, at the behest of Schiff who was angry at Sperry for outing a whistleblower in the impeachment investigation against former President Donald Trump.
Sperry told Kilmeade that he received an email from fellow journalist Matt Taibbi who was asked by Elon Musk to go through a lot of the communication between Twitter, its former executives, and influential figures like politicians and law enforcement officials.
“Adam Schiff demanded Twitter ban me in November of 2021,” Sperry said. “He secretly sent a letter to them. Less than three months later, I was banned.”
Sperry said the Twitter Files revealed that the platform promised Schiff they would review Sperry’s account for suspension.
“This explains why Twitter could never give me a reason for my suspension even though I broke none of its rules,” he said. “My editors and everyone else tried numerous times to get an answer and we never did.”
Sperry stated that by not providing him with a reason for a suspension, Twitter was breaking its own rules.
“When you make your own rules, you can break your own rules, and there’s nobody left to enforce them,” Kilmeade added.
“I was kind of a thorn in Schiff’s side, and he was mad at me because my stories went viral on Twitter and he tried to silence me,” said Sperry.
